Registrations OPEN for the Sheffield Sellers on Etsy: Christmas Online Market

16 October 2020 by Sophie

Introducing the Sheffield Sellers on Etsy: Christmas Online Market!

On 21st and 22nd November, we will be hosting the Sheffield Sellers on Etsy: Christmas Online Market and registrations for sellers are now OPEN!

We have changed lots of things for this year’s annual Christmas market, some thanks to the feedback from the team and others as a result of the circumstances this year has forced upon us.

This event will be online and participants can choose to promote their shops on Facebook, Instagram or both! (Heck, you can even head to Twitter too, although our team account is hibernating over there)

The biggest change, apart from this being online rather than our usual in person fair is that ALL team members are pre-approved to take part. No application form, no sifting, simply an equal chance for ALL our team members to make the most of the opportunities that our extended (and collaborative audience!) can bring.

As this event is online, it’s also significantly cheaper than our usual in person events – our overheads are far smaller. It’s a flat rate £10 fee to help us provide you with the best possible promotional support for the event.

How Will It Work?

We will create an Event Hub on our team website, this will include a variety of features to showcase the amazing makers, designers, creatives and vintage sellers who make up the Sheffield Sellers on Etsy team.

We will create a promotional campaign to direct customers to the Hub to either explore their favourite shops direct and to browse our event hashtag (#etsysheffonline for the eager beavers!)

The hashtag can be used on both Facebook and Instagram giving sellers the opportunity to showcase their seasonal products, special offers, and so, SO much more via their own accounts.

  • The Shop Directory – this will include a short bio about you and a link to your Etsy shop. We will leave this shop directory on the website until 22nd February 2021
  • Gift Guides – well, they’re just a bit of a must at this time of year!
  • Facebook and Instagram Lives Schedule – TBC

The live schedule totally depends how many of our lovely team members want to get involved – however, we can say from experience that doing lives on social media is a GREAT way to connect with your audience, meet new followers and to really allow your business personality to shine.

We will also promote an event wide coupon code that you can set up for your Etsy shop – what the deal is, you decide, but we will include this in your shop directory for the course of the event. Having a coupon will help you identify sales that have come through the event – especially important as it’s likely to be a busy shopping weekend across the world.

I Haven’t Done an Online Market Before…

We know from the team survey in September that many team members have not previously taken part in an online selling event. As a result, we have specifically created features to help support you through this experience.

We have set up an event specific Facebook group for sellers who are taking part. It is optional to join this group, in case anyone is worried about social media overload.

This Facebook group will be used to share best practice and offer support to learn new skills, such as creating videos in different formats. It’s purpose will be to offer sellers the chance to practise their skills in a safe space and develop their confidence before the event.

You will also be provided with branded templates to help you promote your Etsy shop before and during the event. These can be customised in Canva – you will need to set up an account if you do not already have one, however full instructions will be provided via email in due course.

I Want In! How Do I Sign Up to Take Part?
