I started BarMadeBags almost 6 years ago when I wanted a creative challenge after retiring from a career as a teacher.
I love sewing and making beautiful items that feature either my own appliqued designs or patchwork sections, but I’m also passionate about the need for sustainability. For this reason, I use as much reclaimed fabric as possible when making my bags. Some of this fabric comes from charity shop garments and household textiles, while smaller pieces are offcuts that would otherwise be thrown away but can be used in patchwork. However, despite this use of upcycled fabrics, I want my creations to look special, some even luxurious, so that you can be sure that your purchase doesn’t appear secondhand or worn.
My range of “bags” extends from crossbody bags, clutches and totes to smaller items such as pencil cases, coin purses and phone pouches. So if you’re looking for ecofriendly gifts, I hope you’ll find something at BarMadeBags!
