Pixie Drew / Veras Vintage Treasure
A bit about my product range
I love vintage and both my stores reflect this.
Vera’s is full of beautiful vintage china dating between 1890 and 1990. My main items are vintage tea cups and saucers, tea plates cake plates and stands, with a few vintage books. All of my items are very carefully selected and are in good to excellent condition.
Pixie Drew is a combination of my love of vintage style and my drawings. I have a range of assembled paper dolls and paper doll kits, colouring pages, wrapping paper, badges, brooches and prints. Everything is kind of cute. I also have a range of vintage plates with my drawings on too.
I started an Etsy shop because…
Back in 2012 I bought a vintage caravan “Vera” and completely revamped the inside and outside. I started to collect vintage tea cups for the caravan, but then every time I saw some more I just couldn’t resist buying them. At one point I had so many they wouldn’t fit in the cupboards and set up an Etsy store to sell the surplus ones. I sold my first tea cup and saucer to a lady in Canada within a few days of setting up the shop and it’s been going strong ever since.
I set Pixie Drew up in 2015 with just 3 items and kind of left it alone until earlier this year. I am always drawing so it was very easy to list so many items as I have years and years of illustrations to fall back on and now the sales are slowly starting to trickle in.
I feel inspired by…
When I was a child we had a Mabel Lucie Attwell Bathroom rules print and I have been a fan ever since. I am also inspired by Rose O’Neill’s kewpie dolls.
When I’m making, I like to listen to…
I love all types of music but my favourites are Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday while working. I am a book worm so have also been known to listen to audio books, recently I am catching up on Robert Jordan’s The wheel of Time series.
My favourite product to make is…
Paper dolls. I love drawing these and my take on famous characters like Alice in Wonderland then cutting them out and putting them together. I loved these as a child and still like a bit of old fashioned fun.
My plans for the future are…
Keep my Etsy shops active. In the last couple of months I have got my items in a few stores and recently had an order from Weston Park Museum and would like to build on this. I also have a children’s book to illustrate if I ever find the time.
A few of their products…
