A bit about my product range
I am an illustrator, printmaker and all-round smiley lady. I especially love to draw houses and other buildings, often based on Sheffield and other places in Yorkshire. My product range includes prints, hand printed tote bags, colouring books, zines and mugs. I also take commissions and draw peoples houses and favourite buildings, which make unique, personalised gifts. I will have house portrait information, examples and gift cards available at Etsy Made Local.

I started an Etsy shop because…
I studied for an MA in Children’s Book Illustration, alongside a career in greetings cards. After graduating, I then spent a year on speculative work, hoping to get published. Eventually, I took a course in screen printing and started to see my illustrations differently, as wall art – and I soon found that people wanted to buy them! Taking my future into my own hands, I set up my shop and it’s been a fun adventure ever since! I have now printed my own colouring book and cookbook zine and have many ideas for more prints, books and zines next year.

I feel inspired by…
My drawings take influence from childhood memories, children’s book illustration and a lifelong affinity with black ink.

When I’m making, I like to listen to…
Podcasts, eclectic playlists I make and Disney soundtracks! I love music, but I also have an obsession with the world of creative business podcasts. I have learnt lots about business and marketing and also been inspired by hearing about artists’ processes on podcasts such as The Honest Designer’s Show, Design Matters, Hashtag Authentic and Etsy Success.

My favourite product to make is…
Tough call! I love the whole process of screen printing. It is calming, I think about nothing else and lifting the screen to see how the print turned out can be magical! I equally love the longer process of designing and illustrating a book (like my zine and colouring book). From planning the spreads to drawing the little details for each page, it’s a big project that takes over my life for a while.

My plans for the future are…
I have a real organic process going now – I know that as long as I keep drawing and making things, it will lead to good things that I can’t predict. I have many exciting ideas for next year, with new prints and products in the pipeline and the house portraits growing in popularity, so I have plenty to keep me going while my future shapes itself.
