A bit about my product range
I create animal illustrations in Indian ink (and sometimes watercolour paints) to turn into special gifts – greeting cards, hand-crafted coasters, prints, bespoke pet portraits, calendars, pins, hair- clips, notebooks and more – I am always looking for new ways to fulfil my mission, which is to make you and your friends smile.

I am also available to commission your pet’s portrait – my on-line gallery of Indian ink portraits can be found here:

I started an Etsy shop because…
I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. In 2000 I graduated with a BA Fine Art honours degree from Cumbria College of Art and Design, where I first discovered the joys of painting and exploring in Indian ink.

After graduation I continued to paint in my spare time and in 2012 I decided that it was time to turn my passion for painting into a new venture – InkBison – dedicated to my love of ink and animals.

I feel inspired by…
Nature, crafting, animals, the need for practical beautiful items.

As a dedicated vegan, animals are very dear to me and feature greatly in my work. I absolutely love painting in Indian ink, experimenting with mark making and bringing images to life through it’s richness.

When I’m making, I like to listen to…
I listen to whole mixture of stuff including: old favourite tunes (from the Folk to rave music), Spotify, Radio 6, Radio 2 and Radio 4 (particularly their Women’s Hour and Science Programmes). I am partial to a Podcast (like comedy podcast The Guilty Feminist and interesting fact based stuff like Freakonomics).

My favourite product to make is…
Pet Portraits! I love painting people’s special furry friends, it is an absolute honour and a pleasure and I do this with the hope of bringing happiness and joy.

My plans for the future are…
I would like to continue to grow my portfolio of paintings and find new practical items to feature them on.
