Please describe your product range.
I use high quality oil based inks and printing papers to create a small edition of a variety of linocut design. Each piece of lino is cut by hand and printed using the back of a spoon in my kitchen. I started with one layer lino designs, but now overlay up to four layers on one design. My products currently range in size from A6 – A2 and from £5 – £50.
I started an Etsy shop because…
I wanted to be able to show my prints to more people and possibly start making some money out of what I love doing – so I thought Etsy was the best way to reach the most potential customers. One day I hope to buy a press and be able to expand in to larger scale print work.
I feel inspired by…
I am inspired by finding patterns in the natural world – whether it be the scales of a fish or the layout of hedges and fields in a view out of a window. Having recently moved to Sheffield, I have been turning my exploration of the area in to lino prints. Using my love of pattern, I have created detailed designs of landmarks such as the Botanical Gardens and Cemetery Park. The work of printmaking masters like Edward Bawden are a heavy influence in my work. I enjoy experimenting with colour fades and registration techniques to create colourful and intricate lino prints.
When I’m working on Etsy, I like to listen to…
BBC 6 Music.
